Summary

We were commissioned by Scholz & Friends to design and develop an accessible, friendly and informative site on behalf of the Swiss Federal Office of Communications (BAKOM).

Objectives: Relaunch of the website as a one-stop digital hub with all the information about the new DAB+ radio standard:

  • A user-friendly, informative website for all ages
  • Interactive garage finder map, incl. directions and distance to the nearest garages which enable to upgrade your car to DAB+.
  • Radio stations need to be able to publish their station on the platform and users should be able to find DAB+ stations filtered by canton and language.
  • The page needs to be barrier-free according to AA standards and handle a high visitor volume of several 1,000 visitors at a time.

Our work

After a briefing and kick-off workshop with the creative agency Scholz & Friends in Zurich, we developed a concept for the implementation of the new website.

Process and Tools:

The following factors were crucial to the successful and timely implementation of this project:

  • Close coordination with Scholz & Friends to prioritize and test new features
  • Creation of a responsive design with Figma in close coordination with the developers to ensure technical feasibility
  • Front- and back-end development with WordPress
  • Ongoing, bi-weekly handover of features and work packages
  • Monthly budget and progress reporting using Jira
  • User testing and fine-tuning of the user experience design (UX)

Key Benefits for the Client

With the new DAB+ website, we developed a central, user-friendly and informative platform for the broad Swiss population, DAB+ radio stations and DAB+ garages.

Delivery within budget and deadline, 3 months after project start

AA accessible website for optimal navigation and operation

User-friendly CMS with WordPress, which allows the client to create and edit pages themselves using building blocks (Atomic components)

Platform for radio stations, who can register their stations themselves and publish them after approval

Interactive search filter, which allows to filter radio stations by criteria such as language and canton

Interactive garage finder enables to find the nearest DAB+ garages by entering my address, including directions with Google Maps
